Sludge traps are used, among other things, to purify settleable parts. A sludge trap can be placed in front of an oil separator, coalescence separator, grease separator, but can also function separately as a purification of settleable parts. The sludge traps are produced in accordance with NEN-EN1825 or NEN-EN858 standard.

What is a sludge trap?

A sludge trap is a pit that is placed in the sewage system and its purpose is to remove settleable parts (sludge) from the wastewater. A sludge trap ensures that a 'clean' discharge into the sewer takes place. A sludge trap protects the sewer from blockages and prevents the sewage treatment plant from being unnecessarily burdened. A sludge trap must be placed in the sewer system after the discharge point and before the connection to a separator which eventually discharges into the municipal sewer or surface water.

Are you obliged to install a separator? Then you are obliged according to NEN-EN1825 or NEN-EN858 to place a sludge trap in front of this.

DWTN also supplies integral oil separator, coalescence separators, grease separators and bypass separators. In these systems, the sludge trap is integrated in the separator.
